![]() ![]() ![]() This second position has grown increasingly popular, but it remains contested. However, since 1935, scholars have debated whether or not the term refers to a type of sacrifice on the basis of a similar term, also spelled mlk, which means "sacrifice" in the Punic language. Traditionally, Moloch has been understood as referring to a Canaanite god. The Bible strongly condemns practices which are associated with Moloch, practices which appear to have included child sacrifice. Moloch ( / ˈ m oʊ l ɒ k/ Biblical Hebrew: מֹלֶךְ Mōleḵ or הַמֹּלֶךְ hamMōleḵ Ancient Greek: Μόλοχ, Latin: Moloch also Molech or Molek) is a name or a term which appears in the Hebrew Bible several times, primarily in the book of Leviticus. When it gave out, I abandoned it and kept swimming.18th century depiction of the Moloch idol ( Der Götze Moloch mit 7 Räumen oder Capellen "The idol Moloch with seven chambers or chapels"), from Johann Lund's Die Alten Jüdischen Heiligthümer (1711, 1738). My suit started beeping, I connected the last oxygen tank I had and went towards the surface with my scooter. Mere seconds later while I desperately treated my injuries, I could hear the screams of my crewmates as the monster started chewing on the hull.then silence. Then without warning it came.Īll I saw was an eldritch horror with a giant beak emerge from the darkness, ramming me out of the way and nearly killing me in the process. I kept swimming upwards, praying that the sub was there. The moment I exited the sub, it sank past me like a rock down into the dark depths.Īfter a moment of recovery, I started swimming upwards towards where I expected our sub to be.Īs I made the beginners mistake of not bringing a sonar or beacon I could only hope to find the sub by going with my gut. I swam as fast as I could back to the airlock, silently praising the captain for upgrading some diving suits to ADS earlier. Our continuous saturation fire combined with the water from my forced entry had entirely flooded the enemy sub and we were sinking at an alarming rate.įinally I managed to find it and the maneuver was successful - the subs disentangled and our sub halted its decend.at 4500m depth, while I was still sinking rapidly. While making my way to the nav terminal I received the captains order to hurry up. After breaching the airlock I encountered just 2 living crew members which I could swiftly dispatch with the harpoon gun. The travel was short and surprisingly uneventful, putting my fears of getting shot by the coilguns to rest. I informed the captain who desperately tried to steer in different directions of my plan, gave myself a shot of steroids and ventured out into the cold sea. By this point, both subs had flooding in some compartments and we began sinking with no ground in sight, general panic among the crew started kicking in and most crewmembers became unresponsive, busy repairing the hull or firing the guns like madmen.īecause the situation grew more dire by the second, I decided that the only chance was to board the enemy sub and try to reverse its engine to remove the jam. This too however only seemed to work for a short while, as the enemy sub suddenly rammed us and we got stuck against each other. The captain maneuvered us closer in an angle which initially looked promising, keeping them at 1-2 o'clock and allowing all our topside guns to fire at them. The gunner shot.and missed, forcing us to directly face them. The enemy submarine was in surprisingly close proximity to the next station and on our way we merely encountered a handful of spinelings and mudraptors.Īs we were nearing the enemy sub, the captain shouted his orders, directing the gunner to blindfire the nuke at 1 o'clock as an opening strike. We had our hull almost fully upgraded, already prepared a nuke shell in advance to finish it quickly and morale was extremely high because of our early successes. It was a simple-sounding job: Destroy an enemy Submarine. ![]() An older story, where I was serving as a medic and were still quite wet behind the ears. ![]()
